India, May 19 -- Explosions were heard on Iran's Qeshm Island on Tuesday afternoon, according to the semi-official Iranian news agency, Mehr News Agency. The cause of the explosions remains unknown, and no official authority has commented on the incident so far. The island is strategically located between the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, the Tasnim News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported that drones were spotted in the skies over Qeshm Island on Monday night. Following the sightings, air defence systems were activated.
