India, Sept. 22 -- Joe Root added another landmark to an extraordinary international career as the England batter became only the eighth player in men's international cricket to reach 23,000 runs. Root achieved the milestone during England's 1st ODI against Sri Lanka at Chester-le-Street on Tuesday, September 22. The veteran needed only a few runs to join the elite club and reached the mark early in England's innings.
