India, Aug. 21 -- England national cricket team made a statement at Headingley on Friday, crushing the Pakistan national cricket team by an innings and 103 runs inside three days to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series. Joe Root's return as England's permanent Test captain could hardly have gone better, with the hosts dominating with both bat and ball after putting Pakistan in on a testing first morning. Pakistan were bowled out for 171 in their first innings before England posted 409, taking a huge 238-run lead.
