India, Aug. 25 -- As India prepares to observe Milad-un-Nabi, also called Eid-e-Milad or Mawlid, on August 26, 2026, questions over school holidays, college closures, bank operations and office working schedules have started emerging. The Islamic occasion commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and is observed through prayers, religious gatherings and other traditions. However, August 26 is not automatically a holiday for every school, college, bank or workplace across India, as holiday rules can differ by state and institution.
