India, Oct. 11 -- An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Saturday evening, October 10, 2026, causing panic amongst the local population, which had to evacuate their houses due to tremors that hit various areas of the Himalayas.

07 pm on October 10, 2026, as per data from the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The epicenter of the tremor was located 2 km northwest of Uttarkashi city at a depth of 11 km.
