India, Sept. 22 -- A franchise icon is heading back to the City of Brotherly Love.

The Philadelphia Eagles are signing three-time Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz to their practice squad, bringing the veteran pass-catcher back to the organization where he began his NFL career.

Ertz returns to Philadelphia after spending the past two seasons with the NFC East rival Washington Commanders.

While the 35-year-old initially joins via the practice squad, he is expected to be elevated to the active 53-man roster as he ramps up within the offense.
