India, July 3 -- A mobile application that was originally designed to monitor lithium batteries has now become the focus of a nationwide cybersecurity investigation. The Central government has directed the removal of the BAT-BMS app from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store after videos circulating on social media claimed it was being misused to remotely disable battery-powered e-rickshaws.

The action follows complaints from drivers across several states, an investigation ordered by the Delhi government, and growing concerns over the security of Bluetooth-enabled battery management systems used in many electric three-wheelers.
