India, June 3 -- After months of internal Congress face-off and intense leadership struggle inside the party's Karnataka unit, on Wednesday, D K Shivakumar took oath as new chief minister. The Congress's landslide victory in Karnataka assembly elections in 2023 compelled the party to come to an internal agreement to share the chief minister post between Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar dividing the term into two phases
Congress MLA T B Jayachandra said that the high command has sanctioned the cabinet 'schedule' with the first 'batch' of ministers taking oath along with the chief minister and a second phase after June 18 after Rajya Sabha elections
