India, May 30 -- After weeks of power battle and leadership crisis with former CM Siddaramaiah, Dr. DK Shivakumar has now been named as new chief minister of Karnataka. He is set to take oath on June 3, according to the Karnataka Congress working president G C Chandrashekhar, who said in a statement that the new chief minister has been elected by the Congress Legislature party (CLP) meeting as their leader.
In a historic moment for Karnataka politics, the Congress leadership has reached a consensus after weeks of political turmoil, brought about by an internal power struggle within the party.
