India, May 19 -- Large parts of India are facing intense heatwave and severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures rising sharply across several northern and central states, including Delhi. Extremely hot weather has affected people in western Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh, while many districts in Uttar Pradesh are also expected to experience severe heat conditions.

On Monday, the temperature in the national capital touched 45 degrees Celsius, making it one of the hottest days of the season so far. At the same time, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of thunderstorms and rain in several states before the arrival of the southwest monsoon.
