India, Aug. 30 -- On August 30, 2026, a tragic accident happened in the Mediterranean Sea, near northern Cyprus, which involved a ferry with approximately 270 individuals on board capsizing because of severe weather conditions. The Filo Jet, which had 258 travelers and 12 crew members, was traveling from Kyrenia (Girne) to Tasucu and encountered rough weather 1.2 miles from Kyrenia's coast. Many travelers suffered injuries in this accident. Photos from the scene show the upside-down ferry in the water with some survivors wearing life jackets on the ferry's body.
