India, Nov. 2 -- Schools and colleges in Chennai and Tiruvallur will remain closed on Monday, November 2, as authorities take precautionary measures ahead of heavy rainfall forecast due to Cyclone Murasu. The storm has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal and is expected to make landfall along the south Andhra Pradesh coast near Ongole.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. The weather system is also expected to bring strong winds and intense showers to parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
