Curious case of Sajjan Kumar
India, Aug. 23 -- The passing away of Sajjan Kumar, a three-time Congress MP from Outer Delhi, who died on Thursday, while being taken to the hospital from jail, has perhaps ended a chapter in the capital's history. He had been convicted in a case pertaining to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and his appeal in the higher court was pending as was his request for a parole, which had been denied to him several times. There are multiple dimensions which crop up when any attempt is made to discuss him or various aspects of his political life.
So far as the Sikh community is concerned, Sajjan Kumar was one of the villains of the genocide that took place following the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, by her own Sikh security guard...
