India, Sept. 21 -- Chennai Super Kings have appointed former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan as their new head coach ahead of IPL 2027. The five-time champions made the announcement on Monday, bringing the 47-year-old into the role after Stephen Fleming's departure from the franchise following an 18-year association.

Fleming ended his long tenure with CSK after being named England's men's Test head coach, bringing one of the longest coaching partnerships in IPL history to a close. Zaheer, who has previously worked in coaching and support roles but has never served as a head coach, will now take charge of the franchise for the first time in a head-coaching capacity.
