India, July 29 -- India experienced another historic and thrilling day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on July 28, adding two silver medals to push the nation's total medal tally to 12 and ensuring their spot in the top 10. Long-distance runner Gulveer Singh clinched silver in the men's 10,000m, while weightlifter Harjinder Kaur finished second in the women's 69kg category.

Gulveer Singh became the first Indian male athlete in Commonwealth Games history to win a long-distance track medal. Operating in relentless Scottish rain, he crossed the line in 27:49.78 to claim the 10,000m silver. In weightlifting, Harjinder Kaur upgraded her 2022 bronze by securing silver in the women's 69kg final. She registered a total lift of 221kg.
