India, Sept. 23 -- Chris Spatola, the son-in-law of legendary Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, has died unexpectedly at the age of 47. Spatola was a former West Point basketball player who later spent five years on Krzyzewski's Duke coaching staff from 2007 to 2012. He went on to build a career in sports media, becoming a longtime college basketball analyst for ESPN and a radio host on SiriusXM.

Beyond his work in broadcasting and coaching, Spatola was also a familiar presence around Duke basketball and became a fan favourite through his role as an emcee at the K Academy.
