India, May 15 -- A huge fire broke out in a godown belonging to Tech Mahindra in Karapakkam on the OMR Road near Sholinganallur, causing panic in the busy IT corridor of Chennai. The fire broke out inside a godown where old computers, monitors, plastic waste and other electronic goods were stored, authorities said it started on Wednesday evening.

A thick black cloud of smoke was seen as the fire spread over the godown within minutes. Alarms were raised immediately. Staff tried to douse the fire with the in-built fire extinguishers at the building before the arrival of the firefighters.
