India, July 6 -- The murder case surrounding conservative activist Charlie Kirk enters a crucial phase on Monday as a five-day preliminary hearing begins in Utah. Prosecutors are expected to present evidence they say links 23-year-old Tyler Robinson to Kirk's fatal shooting and argue that the case should proceed to trial while pursuing the death penalty.

The hearing marks the first time Kirk's immediate family-including his widow, Erika Kirk, parents Robert and Kathryn Kirk, and sister Mary-are expected to be present in the courtroom alongside Robinson. Court proceedings will be livestreamed.
