India, Sept. 19 -- The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has released some new guidelines for film certification. Several changes have been made in the guidelines regarding depiction of various sensitive issues. These guidelines were notified on September 18, 2026, and they replace the guidelines that were notified back in 1991. The new guidelines include several subjects like drug abuse, violence, sexual violence, child abuse, communal issues, disability, animal abuse and national issues. These guidelines provide better directions to CBFC regarding the assessment of such issues before certifying the films.
