India, Sept. 1 -- For photographers who wanted the compact size of the Canon EOS R8 but wished it offered better handheld stability, the next-generation model could address that long-standing compromise. The Canon EOS R8 Mark II is reportedly headed for a September 15, 2026 announcement, with the biggest expected upgrade being in-body image stabilisation (IBIS).

Recent reports suggest Canon will keep the camera relatively compact while retaining a 24.2MP full-frame sensor, 40fps electronic shooting and the LP-E17 battery. The camera could also receive a major angular design, a separate SD card compartment and an optional ergonomic grip.
