India, Aug. 14 -- Ben Shelton continued his strong run in Canada by successfully defending his ATP Montreal Masters 1000 title, beating fellow American Brandon Nakashima 6-3, 7-6(7-4) in the final. The victory came in the first all-American Canadian Open final since Andre Agassi defeated Pete Sampras in 1995, giving Shelton another significant milestone as he builds momentum heading into the U.S. Open.

Iga Swiatek also ended her wait for a title this season, comfortably defeating Elena Rybakina 6-2, 6-3 in the Canadian Open final. Despite facing criticism during a difficult campaign, Swiatek said she was proud of her performance, while the triumph lifted her back into the WTA top five ahead of the U.S. Open.
