India, June 8 -- Atalanta midfielder Ederson earned a call-up to the Brazil World Cup squad after Wesley, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to an untimely injury. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced Ederson as the defender's replacement on Sunday, May 7. Ederson will join Carlo Ancelotti's squad on Monday. Wesley, who plays for Italian side AS Roma, suffered the injury during Brazil's recent international friendly against Egypt, which they won 2-1 in Cleveland. "The CBF regrets the injury. Wesley is a player much loved by the squad and will always be considered part of this team as it seeks to win its sixth World Cup title," the Brazilian federation said in its statement.
