India, May 28 -- India's literary world mourned the loss of legendary Urdu poet Dr Bashir Badr, who passed away in Bhopal on Thursday at the age of 91. Widely regarded as one of the greatest modern Urdu shayars, Bashir Badr became famous for giving ghazals a simple, emotional and relatable style that connected deeply with common people across generations.

The celebrated and famous poet breathed his last around noon on the day of Eid al-Fitr after battling dementia and age-related health complications for a long time. He is survived by his wife, Rahat and son Tayyab.
