India, Sept. 28 -- Bank Holiday Today, September 28, 2026: Bank customers had been expecting branch closures from September 28 to 30 because of a proposed nationwide bank strike. However, the latest update has changed the situation. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has deferred the proposed three-day bank strike, meaning September 28 is not a confirmed nationwide bank holiday.

As a result, banks are expected to remain open today, Monday, September 28, including major lenders such as SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, PNB, Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank. SBI has also confirmed that its branches will remain open on September 28.
