India, June 11 -- The southwest monsoon has now engulfed the whole state of Karnataka and has started bringing abundant rainfall that led the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a heavy rain alert in a number of districts until 13 June. The moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty winds are likely in Bangalore and many parts of south interior, coastal and Malnad regions in the coming days. Residents have been urged to stay vigilant as heavy rainfall may result in waterlogging, traffic jams, and partial flooding in low-lying areas. The active monsoon phase is likely to intensify more with much of the State continuing to experience wet conditions for the weekend.
