India, Aug. 14 -- Mir Ziaullah Langau, Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Minister, escaped unhurt after unidentified gunmen attacked his convoy in Mastung on Friday, August 14, as Pakistan observed its Independence Day. Security personnel returned fire, triggering a gun battle in the Khad Koocha area. Several members of the security team suffered injuries in the attack.

The convoy was travelling from Kalat to Quetta when the attackers opened fire near Kund Umarani in Khad Koocha. Police launched a search operation after the gunmen fled the area. The attack has raised fresh security concerns in Mastung, a district that has repeatedly witnessed militant violence.
