India, July 3 -- Baby Do Die Do kind of brings this fresh twist to the crime thriller space, with a dark, gritty feel that hangs around and an intriguing main idea. Directed by Nachiket Samant, it tells you about Baby Karmarkar, a deaf-and-mute woman who is basically haunted by her earlier life, yet she still has a risky double life going on in Mumbai. The setup feels quite promising, but the film has trouble keeping a smooth rhythm. The first part feels like it gets stretched too far, like it takes forever just to properly set up the story and who these characters really are. After the interval, though, things do improve a lot; the film sort of gathers momentum, the pressure starts building, and the plot twists finally start to hit.
