India, April 16 -- A major industrial fire at one of Australia's last operating oil refineries has raised fresh concerns about fuel security and critical infrastructure resilience. Late Wednesday night, explosions and towering flames were reported at the Viva Energy refinery in Geelong, Victoria.

The facility, which supplies roughly 10% of Australia's fuel and more than 50% of Victoria's demand, became the focus of a large emergency response as firefighters worked to contain the blaze while authorities confirmed that while the fire was contained within the plant and it remained uncontrolled for several hours, prompting air monitoring and safety measures across nearby areas.
