India, Aug. 23 -- Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra will headline India's 73-member athletics contingent at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The javelin star will aim to retain his title and become a three-time Asian Games champion when the competition runs from September 19 to October 4.

Athletics is the largest sport in India's 492-member Asian Games contingent approved by the Sports Ministry. Sixteen athletes from the athletics squad won medals at the 2023 Hangzhou Games, including five individual champions who will return to defend their titles in Japan.
