Asian Games 2026: Lovlina Borgohain Beats China's Bao Ziyi to Win Gold on 29th Birthday, Joins Mary Kom in Elite Indian Boxing Record
India, Oct. 2 -- Lovlina Borgohain has finally added an Asian Games gold medal to her decorated career, defeating China's Bao Ziyi in a closely fought women's 75kg final at the Nishio Gymnasium on Friday. The Indian boxer's victory also puts her in an elite club, making her only the second Indian woman after Mary Kom to win an Asiad boxing gold.
The triumph marks a significant step up from Lovlina's silver-medal finish at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. After edging Kazakhstan's Natalya Bogdanova in a tense semifinal, the Olympic medallist held her nerve in the final to secure India's 12th gold of the 2026 Asian Games.
