India, Aug. 16 -- Former West Bengal Assembly deputy speaker and Trinamool Congress MLA Asish Banerjee was found dead at a TMC office near his residence in Rampurhat, Birbhum, on Sunday morning. Police said his body was found hanging inside the party office and has been sent for post-mortem examination. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.

According to police, a purported suicide note was also recovered from the office, PTI reported. However, authorities have not yet established the circumstances leading to Banerjee's death. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
