India, May 22 -- Customers planning to visit banks on Saturday, May 23, 2026, should prepare for branch closures across India as banks will remain shut due to the fourth Saturday holiday under Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines. Public and private sector banks follow a fixed holiday schedule every month, which includes closure on the second and fourth Saturdays along with Sundays.

Apart from weekend closures, several regional holidays and festival-related bank shutdowns are also scheduled during May 2026. Banking customers are additionally keeping a close watch on a proposed SBI employees' strike later this month, which could affect services in some parts of the country.
