India, April 24 -- Following revelations that a vulnerability in the iPhone's operating system was exploited by the FBI to gain unauthorised access to locked devices, Apple has released critical security patches-iOS 26.4.2 and iOS 18.7.8. 

The tech giant is urging all iPhone users to install the updates immediately to protect against a flaw that could allow sophisticated actors to bypass standard encryption and passcode protections.

The emergency patches address a "zero-click" vulnerability that allowed law enforcement and other high-level hackers to extract sensitive user data without needing the device owner's interaction.
