India, Sept. 27 -- Ankush Panghal will look to continue his brilliant run in 2026 season when he takes on Tajikistan's Nekruz Salimov in the men's 80kg quarterfinal at the Asian Games on Sunday, September 27. The Indian boxer has already made his mark this year by winning Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow, and he is now one victory away from securing an Asian Games medal.

Panghal is competing at his maiden Asian Games and began his campaign in the men's 80kg category with a Round of 32 bout against Bahrain's Hamsa Vogel. The Indian controlled the contest from the opening round and secured a 5-0 unanimous decision to move into the Round of 16.
