India, Sept. 11 -- Ali Baba Aur 40 Bhoot wants to be both scary and funny at the same time. It leans on a well-known pattern where ghosts show up in a person's daily life. From there, the story aims for jokes and scares in the same scene. Still, the mix does not land in a steady way. The movie does have ghosts, and it does try to keep things moving fast. Because of that, the scenes do not always make you feel uneasy or push you to guess what comes next. But the film often fails to hold a proper spooky mood for long stretches.
