India, Sept. 4 -- Alex Eala continued her dream run at the US Open 2026 on Thursday, defeating Ukraine's Oleksandra Oliynykova 6-1, 6-4 to reach the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

The 20-year-old Filipino has produced two brilliant performances at Flushing Meadows, winning both of her opening matches in straight sets. But while Eala's results have been the biggest talking point, her appearance on some of the tournament's biggest courts has also sparked an unexpected debate among fans.
