Alaska Plane Crash: 'No Survivors' After Aircraft With 8 On Board Crashes Near US Air Force Radar Site; Investigation Underway
India, Aug. 21 -- A civilian-contracted aircraft crashed near a remote US Air Force radar site in Alaska, killing all eight people on board, according to the US military. The crash occurred shortly after midday local time on Thursday near Cape Newenham, a remote site on Alaska's south-west coast that forms part of the Alaska Radar System.
What Happened?
The aircraft took off from Anchorage International Airport and was headed towards Cape Newenham, located about 450 miles (725 km) west of Anchorage by air, the US Air Force Alaskan Command said.
The aircraft crashed near the airport serving a long-range radar facility. Rescue teams reached the crash site and confirmed that there were no survivors, according to the military.
