India, Aug. 9 -- More than 50,000 government employees, pensioners, contractual, outsourced and temporary workers from across Punjab flooded the streets of Chandigarh on Friday in what is being seen as the biggest show of strength by government employees during the four-year tenure of the Aam Aadmi Party government. The massive mobilisation, held during the Monsoon Session of the Punjab Assembly, transformed a long running dispute over Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears and other service related demands into a major political challenge for the Bhagwant Mann government just months before the Punjab Assembly elections.
