An officer of the 1/11 Gorkha Rifles, Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey led multiple assaults during the Battle of Khalubar. Even after suffering severe injuries, he continued attacking enemy bunkers until the objective was secured. He made the ultimate sacrifice and was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
