India, May 1 -- Three decades ago, bandicoots initially went extinct in Australia. But in a comeback that one expected or saw coming, the marsupial species has made a grand comeback and this time, it's not just bigger but also better.

A Unique Australian Marsupial That Returned from Extinction

Bandicoots are small to medium sized marsupials that are native to the Australia - New Guinea region of the Southern hemisphere. They have long snouts, hairless tail, coarse grey or brown fur and humped backs. Bandicoots are almost always nocturnal in nature.
