Jaipur-based artist receives National Lalit Kala Akademi Award
US, Sept. 29 -- Chandra Shekhar Sain, a terracotta and visual artist from Jaipur, Rajasthan, has been honored with the National Lalit Kala Akademi Award at the 65th National Art Exhibition-2026 for his work, "My Entire World-I."
The piece is celebrated for its deep capture of Rajasthani terracotta heritage, translating complex human emotions and profiles into earthy clay. Sain specializes in contemporary terracotta sculptures and paintings. He draws his inspiration from the historic folk and archaeological traditions of Rajasthan, specifically referencing structural themes from the ancient Kalibangan civilization and Molela clay art.
