House of Representatives passes Russia sanctions bill
US, Sept. 17 -- The House of Representatives passed a Russia sanctions bill that gives President Donald Trump authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries, including India and China, for purchasing Russian oil and gas.
The House approved the bill 262-159, with dozens of Democrats joining most Republicans in supporting sanctions and tariffs linked to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, triggering Europe's deadliest conflict since World War II, with fighting continuing ever since.
