Udhampur, July 4 -- The Ramnagar-Udhampur road was closed to traffic on Saturday after heavy rainfall triggered a landslide near Kaugha, blocking the route with large boulders and disrupting vehicular movement.
Officials said the landslide occurred early in the morning, prompting local authorities to rush to the spot and deploy earthmoving machinery to clear the debris and restore traffic.
Road contractor Pushpinder Singh said information about the blockage was received around 7 a.m., following which machinery was mobilised for immediate restoration.
