Jammu Tawi, Aug 06: Widespread rainfall lashed several parts of Kashmir on Thursday, while a hailstorm accompanied by strong gusty winds damaged apple orchards in parts of Shopian district and a shepherd was killed after being struck by lightning in Kupwara.
According to the details available, several areas across the Valley recorded heavy rains during the day, bringing a temporary respite from warm weather but also triggering weather-related incidents in some districts.
The worst impact was witnessed in Shopian district, where a hailstorm coupled with strong winds swept through several villages, causing extensive damage to apple orchards.
