Jammu, Aug. 14 -- As the country completes 79 years of freedom, agriculture sector remains the bedrock of India's growth story all through the last eight decades. The transformation of the sector from shortages and imports to surplus and exports is unparallel and marvelous. Agriculture in India defied Malthusian theory. As per the third Advance Estimates released by the ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' welfare, total food grain production for the year 2025-26 is estimated at a record breaking 376.56 million tonnes. It is India's highest production so far; it is also more than 40% than it was one decade ago in 2014-15.
