India, March 24 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace in West Asia, highlighting India's concerns over the ongoing conflict while addressing the Rajya Sabha.
Speaking on India's position, Modi said the country has called for de-escalation and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, noting that the conflict, now continuing for over three weeks, has triggered a global energy crisis.
He said the situation is a matter of concern for India as key trade routes have been affected, disrupting supplies of essential commodities such as petrol, diesel, gas and fertilisers.
