Jammu, July 11 -- A notorious drug peddler was detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act in Udhampur district, while four others were arrested with heroin and poppy straw in separate operations across Samba, Kathua and Rajouri districts, police said on Saturday.
Police identified the detainee as Sanjay Kumar alias "Sanju", a resident of Phalata village in Udhampur. A police spokesperson said the detention order, issued by the competent authority, was executed on Friday, following which Kumar was lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah in Doda.
