ANANTNAG, May 5 -- Police on Tuesday arrested a woman drug peddler wanted in multiple narcotics cases in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district and recovered contraband substances from her possession.

The arrest was made during a routine naka checking at Laalan Bypass by a team from Police Post Dialgam. The accused, who was approaching from Bondialgam towards Laalan, attempted to flee on noticing the police, raising suspicion.

Acting swiftly, the naka party apprehended her on the spot. During the search, a heroin-like substance was recovered from her possession.

She was identified as Shugafta Akhter, daughter of Mohd Hussain Dar, a resident of Dangerpora, Anantnag.
