Jammu, July 6 -- Several vehicles were buried under debris and caused extensive damage today when heavy rainfall triggered a major landslide near the 540 MW Kwar Hydroelectric Power Project in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that vehicles were trapped beneath the mudslide, with many suffering severe damage, adding, "Rescue teams and heavy machinery have been pressed into service to recover the affected vehicles and restore normal access to the area."
However, flash floods also wreaked havoc in parts of Doda district, disrupting normal life and causing damage at several locations.
"There were no immediate reports of any loss of life," they said.
