India, March 31 -- Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was suspended late Monday evening after a landslide blocked both up and down tubes near Mehar in Ramban district.

An official said the landslide occurred near the trailer parking area, leading to a complete halt of vehicular movement along the stretch.

As a precautionary measure, authorities stopped traffic at Chanderkote, Jakhiani Kharpura and Kistwari Pather to prevent congestion and ensure commuter safety.

Officials are assessing the situation, and efforts are expected to begin to clear the debris and restore traffic on the highway. (KNC)
